2014 Wilton Community Carnival was held on Saturday 5th July at Wilton Shopping Village.

The Procession took place despite a brief shower, led by 16 Wiltshire Mayors and their Consorts and Casa de Samba Brazilian drum band. There was a good display of the “Heroes and Heroines” theme, especially from Wilton First Scouts who won three prizes! A good number of Wilton residents turned out on the streets to watch the procession and followed it into the Shopping Village.

The afternoon was a mixture of sunshine and showers, but it did not deter the public or the exhibitors from having a really good day. In the car park there was the Fire Station Open Day and car boot sale, steam engine and Wagonette rides, and in the stalls, shops and live music in the Village. Over 30 local organisations had stalls, and each area, the car park, the two Village Squares and the play park were packed full of happy families. All of the traders did well. Children’s entertainments were in the play park with bouncy castles, puppets show, the Bike Doctor and all the newly painted and installed play equipment thanks to Wilton Town Council.

The music in the main marquee was exciting and different featuring The Wilton and District Youth Band, Justie the Piano Man, The Frenzied and the Dilligent Skiffle Band and the ever popular Hopback Blues Band. The whole place was alive with people. The Shopping Village was delighted with the numbers and interest from the public and the Carnival Committee too, were also thrilled with another successful Carnival for Wilton.
