The popular annual Wilton Community Carnival is taking place this year on Saturday 6th July at Wilton Shopping Village. It provides a free family afternoon of great events and shopping as well.

It all begins in the car park where the public will be greeted by the Fire Station Open Day with fire engines and car boot sale, the renowned Scouts BBQ, a Police car and stand, sweets and candy floss, Wessex Carnival Display and a splendid wagonette carriage and horse rides. In the Village there will be crafts and charity stalls, dance display and live music marquees, duck races and plenty of activities for children. These include Punch and Judy from Ticklish Allsorts, face painting, circus workshops, balloon clown, bouncy castles, slides and rides, tiny tots area, kids arts and crafts, didi cars, space hoppers and the free play park next door.

A fancy dress competition and parade for all classes will take place at 1.30pm with a theme of “Shopping” but anyone in costume will be welcome and rewarded. Lots of classes including “Wilton Wheels”. Contact Chris Dunn Veale 01722 336821 or cdragondisco@btinternet.com

See displays from fierce knights in armour, Colton Dancers, Enspired Carnival Club, and Salisbury Fencing Club and listen to live bands the Windjammers, No Strings Attached and the wacky Cleyhill Stompers and the lovely voice of Laura Twomey. Enjoy drinks from the bar, or tasty ice creams, and have afternoon teas at the tea rooms and food from the Village restaurant and do some shopping too!  Something for everyone.

Most table stalls spaces have gone, but some more might be possible so please contact Susan Nunn 01722 501776 or suloy6@yahoo.com  .  For car boot sales please contact Jason Sims 01722 742468 or jasondsims@hotmail.com or call in to the Bear in West Street.
